Calif. colleges team up to close digital literacy gap. OAKLAND, Calif. -- In an historical more, 26 Northern Californiacommunity colleges are collaborating to close the state's digitalliteracy skills gap and better prepare students to compete in a globalwork force. Led by Cabrillo College, the Bay Area Information TechnologyConsortium is a joint effort of Bay Area community colleges andhigh-tech businesses dedicated to educational innovation and IT reform,Bay ITC ITC(Brit) n abbr (= Independent Television Commission) → Fernseh-AufsichtsgremiumITCn abbr (BRIT) (= Independent Television Commission) → will launch, a campaign to raise information-technology userskills in response to industry demand for consistent skills assessment.The campaign has already attracted interest from more than 30 communitycolleges statewide. Bay ITC is adopting the International Computer Driving License tomeet its goal of bringing 10,000 students up to an industry definedstandard by 2005: Nine ICDL ICDL International Computer Driving License (computer skills certification programme; trademark of European Computer Driving Licence Foundation Ltd.)ICDL International Children��s Digital LibraryICDL International Centre for Distance Learning testing centers will open in the SanFrancisco Bay Area “Bay Area” redirects here.
