Its aim is to mobilise support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers. , we ask thequestion, "What is your country doing to recognize thecontributions of its teachers?" As we observe Week of the ClassroomTeacher (October 1-7) and World Teachers' Day (October 5), weshould consciously encourage the public to acknowledge the role ofteachers worldwide and their contributions in helping our childrenbecome caring and cooperative global citizens. There are so many ways you can celebrate Week of the ClassroomTeacher and World Teachers' Day. Here are a few suggestions to getyou started: * Visit the ACEI Web site, www.acei.org, to obtain the planningguide and other sample materials to assist with generating publicity,and call ACEI Headquarters (301-570-2111) for brochures and bookmarks. * Attain press coverage through press releases and interviews.Contact your local radio station to arrange airtime to promote yourupcoming celebratory events. * Increase community awareness of the unique responsibilities andchallenges teachers face by contacting your local PTO PTOabbr.1.
