Cutietta appointed dean of USC School of Music. (Items of Interest). Robert Cutietta, a specialist in music education, is the new dean of the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission (USC) Thornton School of Music. For the past three years, Cutietta has been professor and director of the School of Music and Dance at the University of Arizona (body, education) University of Arizona - The University was founded in 1885 as a Land Grant institution with a three-fold mission of teaching, research and public service. . His areas of expertise include the middle-school learner, choral education, learning theories and the psychology of music. Cutietta earned an Ed.D. in music education at Pennsylvania State University Pennsylvania State University,main campus at University Park, State College; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1855, opened 1859 as Farmers' High School. in 1982 and master's and bachelor's degrees from Cleveland State University Cleveland State University,at Cleveland, Ohio; coeducational; founded 1964, incorporating Fenn College (est. 1923). The Cleveland-Marshall School of law was incorporated in 1969. in 1978 and 1975, respectively. Cutietta succeeds Larry J. Livingston, who has been appointed director of USC's arts center project.
